England striker and captain Harry Kane said his side gained "great experience" and have laid a "great foundation for future wins" at the World Cup after his side suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Croatia in their semi-final encounter.
"We had our chances to win it before the extra time, but Croatia played great," Kane said.
"When they scored, it was 50/50 game. Of course, it's sad to lose when you're so close to the final game. Still we have a great foundation now for future wins.
"It is a great experience for us, and we got to learn from it. We want to win the last game on Saturday for our fans."
England will now face Belgium in the third place play-off in St. Petersburg on Sunday (AEST).
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the final between France and Croatia to be held at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
